Drodzy Przyjaciele!

Motywem dokonania tego nagrania było pragnienie podzielenia się z Wami modlitewnym śpiewem gregoriańskim, który codziennie, podczas nieszporów rozlega się w naszej bazylice w Krakowie.

Śpiewana, wspólnie sprawowana liturgia jest nie tylko zewnętrznym wyrazem uwielbienia Boga. Wzbogaca ona także modlitwę osobistą, wprowadza pokój, skłania do medytacji.

Prezentujemy Wam Śpiewy o tematyce Maryjnej. Średniowieczne teksty pełne są miłosnego zachwytu nad dziewiczym macierzyństwem Bogarodzicy. Modlitwa uwielbienia i zachwytu przeplata się w nich z modlitwą prośby, zamyśleniem i teologiczną refleksją. Ów ogromny ładunek wiary i miłości zawarty w tekstach antyfon, hymnów oraz litanii sprawia, że ich moc i delikatne piękno nie wyczerpują się od wielu wieków, że i dziś stanowią one żywą modlitwę Kościoła - nasz chleb powszedni.

Niech zatem śpiew utrwalony na tej płycie będzie dla Was przede wszystkim modlitwą. Spróbujcie odnaleźć w nim skupienie i pokój, które zawsze płyną ze spotkania z Bogiem.

Dear Friends!

The reason why we decided to issue this tape was our desire to share with you the beauty of the Gregorian chant that echoes every day at vesper time in our Basilica in Kraków.

A liturgy which is sung, celebrated together, is not only an external expression of the adoration of God. It also enriches the personal prayer, brings peace, impels to meditation.

On this tape we present the chants devoted to the Virgin Mary. Medieval texts are rich in loving admiration of the virginal maternity of the Mother of God. The prayer of adoration and admiration is interwoven with the prayer of request, with meditation and theological reflection. Due to the enormous load of faith and love contained in the text of antiphons, hymns and litanies their force and delicate beauty has not been exhausted for centuries and even today they are the living prayer of the Church – our daily bread.

So let the chants recorded on this disc be for you a prayer, above all. Try to find in it the concentration and peace that always comes from the communion with God.
