Drodzy Przyjaciele!
W poprzednim naszym nagraniu chorału gregoriańskiego o Matce Bożej
Alma Redemptoris próbowaliśmy ukazać,
obecny w średniowiecznych
antyfonach, zachwyt nad tajemnicą Maryi. Tym razem modlimy się w Dzień
Zesłania Ducha Świętego – zwieńczenie okresu chrześcijańskiej Paschy.
Chorał o Duchu Świętym próbuje w niezwykle prosty, wręcz ubogi sposób
wyrazić tęsknotę człowieka, który oczekuje. aby Moc obiecana wierzącym
w Chrystusa objawiła się w modlitwach i by przez nas dala się widzieć w
świecie. W modlitwie śpiewem gregoriańskim nie ma nic z egzaltacji i
wielomówstwa. Prośba przeplata się z uwielbieniem, a niespełnienie z
pewnością, że obiecany Duch przyjdzie właśnie teraz.
Choral wyraża te teologiczne prawdy jakby w formie szkiców, ciągle
odrzucanych i podejmowanych na nowo przez malarza, który czuje, że
jeszcze nie uchwycił istotnego przesiania swojego obrazu. Jednogłosowa
melodia zarysowuje tajemnicę, ale nie wyraża jej pełną harmonią
brzmienia. Harmonia brzmienia i barw pozostaje niedopowiedziana, a echo
świątyni tylko potwierdza, że tajemnicy spotkania z Duchem Świętym nic
nie wypowie do końca.
Wierzymy, żd Duch Święty, który czyni możliwym to, co wydaje się być
niemożliwe, sam przemówi do Was przez nasz śpiew i wypowie to, czego my
sami nie potrafimy wyrazić.

Dear Friends!
In our previous disc of the Gregorian chant about the Mother of God –
Alma Redemptoris – we tried to convey the
awe over the mystery of
Mary which is present in medieval antiphons. This time our prayer is
about the Day of the Descent of the Holy Ghost, Pentecost the crowning
of the Christian Easter.
In an extremely simple way our chant about the Holy Ghost attempts to
express man's hope that the Power promised to Christ's believers will
be evident in their prayers and visible in the world through their
action. Our prayer does not use exaltation or empty words. Petition is
mixed with adoration, unfulfillment with certainty that presently the
promised Ghost will come.
The chant presents these theological truths though images repeatedly
chosen and discarded by a painter who feels that he has failed to
convey the very message of his painting.
The monodic melody outlines the mystery but it doesn't present it in
full harmony. The harmony of sound remains unstated and the echo of the
temple only confirms that the mystery of meeting with the Holy Ghost
ultimately cannot be explained. We believe that the Holy Ghost, who
makes possible all things which seem impossible, will speak to you
though our chant in a way we cannot ourselves.
