Julien Jalâl Eddine Weiss habite la Syrie du nord, au cœur du vieil Alep, dans un palais mamelouk du XIV siècle aux coupoles sonores. Il a choisi ce pays pour vivre dans un monde foisonnant de symboles et contempler la divinité par le biais de la musique. Après le Salon de musique et les Derviches tourneurs de Damas, il évoque l'Orient des Croisades à travers l'image emblématique du prince Ousama, usant d'un art intemporel, la Qaçida. L'ensemble Al-Kindi et le chanteur inspiré Omar Sarmini dialoguent avec un passé où l'Orient et l'Occident si différents convergent. Substrat magique des violences et de l'amour, du sang et des sens, les voix filtrent les siècles dans la fougue, la fluidité d'un chant mystique et charnel.

Julien Jalaleddin Weiss lives in a 14th c. Mamluk palace topped with resounding domes, in the heart of the old part of Aleppo, in northern Syria. He chose this country so as to live in a world teeming with symbols, where he could contemplate the Divine Being through music. After the Music Room and the Whirling Dervishes of Damascus, he calls upon the timeless art of the qasida to evoke the Levant of the Crusades through the emblematic figure of Prince Usama. The Al-Kindi Ensemble enters into a dialogue with the past, where East and West come together, in spite of their multitude of differences. Their voices filter down through time, weaving a background where the magic and violence of love, blood, the passion of the senses come alive in the mellifluous tones of Omar Sarmini's mystic yet earthly singing.
